How do you get fake nails off?

About 2 weeks ago i went and got my nails done. Now i have stuff stuck under my real nails under my fake ones and cant get it out! i dont want it to get gross so i want these fake ones off! They arnt store bought.. They are from the salon.. They are buggin the heck outta me!How do you get fake nails off?
The best thing to use is pure acetone. You can use acetone nail polish remover but pure acetone works best. Don't bother trying to use acetone-free polish remover because it won't work. Neither will hot water, and forcing them off in any way WILL cause damage to your natural nails. Never do this, or allow any tech to do it either. That is not the proper way to remove acrylic nails.

If the tech applied any UV gel topcoat to your nails after the acrylic application was done, then you will need to use a 180 or 240 grit file to gently file that off of the acrylic. It won't dissolve in acetone or anything else, so it must be removed first.

The simplest way to remove them is to take a cotton ball, wet it with the acetone and place it on your fingertip, making sure to completely cover the nail with it. Don't wet the cotton ball too much, only dampen it. You don't want it dripping everywhere! Then, take a piece of aluminum foil - about 4 x 4 inches in size, and place over your finger - cotton ball included, and squeeze the foil around your finger to secure it. Make sure that the cotton ball does not shift around during this process - it must be on top of the acrylic. Repeat for all remaining fingers. Wait about 20-25 minutes, then remove the foil and the cotton balls by gripping it and using a medium pressure, pull it away from the nail and off of your finger. This will help to remove some of the acrylic onto the cotton ball. Then, gently scrape the remaining softened acrylic with an orange stick and wipe on paper towel. Repeat for all fingers, but only do one finger at a time, or the acrylic will set back up and harden on the fingers that you are not yet done with. If you find that not all of it has come off of your natural nail, simply repeat the process for another 10 or so minutes with a fresh cotton ball, and a piece of foil. Then try again. It should come off completely at this point.

And don't worry, acetone is very safe for nails, and your skin though it does have a bit of a drying effect. If you are worried about this, then simply apply some vaseline or lotion to the skin surrounding the nail and that will help prevent the skin from drying out. Either way, when you are done removing the acrylic, wash your hands well, dry them off, and then apply a good moisturizing lotion to your hands and nails, and massage it into the nails and your cuticles.

If you prefer, a salon can remove them for you. But be aware that there are many salons who will remove them by forcing them off. This is done typically by placing a nail tip under the edge of the acrylic, and prying it off the nail. Or, they may try to use nippers nad clip the acrylic and then grab a hold of it and literally tear it off of your nail. Don't allow them to do this. As I mentioned before, this WILL cause much damage to your natural nail, and it will also cause a lot of pain for you as well. Like I said, this is NOT the way to remove acrylic nails. The only safe method of removal is to soak them off with pure acetone. Oh, aned never let a tech file the acrylic off of your nails either. That is just as bad as forcing them off.

The cost varies, but you can figure about $5-$10 at the most for the removal. Juse be sure that they soak them off, and don't force them off in any way. This happens quite often in the discount salons simply because they want to save time, but it is very bad for your nails, and for you too because it will hurt like crazy.

Sorry this was sooo long! How do you get fake nails off?
or you can soak them in acetone nail polish is might take a little bit but thats what they do at the salon and it will keep them from being damaged so much by tearing them off
Soak them in nail polish remover or HOT water
I had the same problem. No matter how you try, they won't come off. Yes, the best thing is to go back to where you got them on and they can get them right off.
go to the place to get them off of soke them in remorer
Soak them in Acetone
it depends on what type of fake nails they are, if they are just glued on then cutting them down and soaking your nails in warm water or nail polish remover should work but if there acrylic or gel nails you'll need something alot stronger.best thing would be to go back to the salon but if you really don't want to try going to a shop that retails salon products e.g. Sally's and they should have something to help you.
just soak your hands into some salt water hot salwater in the sink or somethin and soak your hands and when u think there ready and your hands r slippery just try to take them off
Just go to the store and get some fingernail polish remover. The one without the Acetone cause I hear that stuffs bad for you or something. Put some in a bowl, and soak your nails in the stuff for a while, till the fake nails get all bubbly and gross. take them out and buff the fake nail off with a nail buffer, and soak them again untill you get all the fake nail off. It takes a while you have to be really patient and the finger nail polish remover stuff is sooooo cold and makes your fingers feel numb. but they do the same thing if you were to go get them taken off at the salon. I think I have seen them put the fingernail polish in the microwave so its not as cold, but I don't recommend that because I dont know how safe that is. Maybe someone else on here will know. Its going to stink because your nails are going to be so weak and chipped especially if the person who did your nails really made them thin before they put the fake nail on. but thats the way it goes when you get fake nails...Get some nail hardener to put on after you take them off, your gunna need it
get nail polish remover, pour some of it in a bowl (one u dont want or something) soak ur nails in there until u can just peel them off! or you can go back to a nail place and have them take em off, probably quicker and i dont think they charge.... idk
get a needle or something thin and hard...place it between the fake nail and ur real nail and move it till the fake nail pops off...it hurts a little bit...But u will get over the pain.
go back to the place you got them done at and they will take them off.
